50th Anniversary of the Norton COMMANDO Motorcycle Featured at Classic and Vintage Swap Meet.

32nd annual classic & vintage motorcycle swap meet and show 'n shine

The premier event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada,
the 32nd Annual Classic & Vintage Motorcycle Swap Meet and Show ‘N Shine takes place this year on:

Sunday April 29th at the Cloverdale Exhibition Grounds in Cloverdale, Surrey, BC.
(Doors open at 10:00am)

The annual Classic and Vintage Swap Meet has become a calendar fixture for motorcycle enthusiasts from all over North America. The new venue has been especially popular with vendors, exhibitors and show visitors alike. Owners of all makes and styles of classic and vintage motorcycles are invited to enter the Show ‘N Shine, and awards will be presented in ten different classes, including Best in Show and People’s Choice.

The featured motorcycle at this year’s Show will be a rare 1968 Norton Commando, to mark the 50th anniversary of this game changing motorcycle’s introduction. The Commando was first shown at the Earls Court, London motorcycle show in late 1967 with the first models arriving in April 1968. It featured a 750cc motor which was “canted” forward and fitted in a totally new frame designed by Dr. Stefan Bauer and termed the “Isolastic” frame as it “isolated” the drivetrain from the main frame. The Commando went onto be named “Machine Of The Year” by Motor Cycle News for five consecutive years, 1968-1972. Commandos were produced until 1985 and the model has a legendary following within the British motorcycling community with many used regularly throughout the world today.

Said show organizer Todd Copan, “The show ‘n shine provides a unique opportunity for local owners and restorers to show off their skills. This year promises to be the best display yet.” Copan is also delighted with the success of the 2017 show. This year will also offer a larger and wider selection of food and beverage from on-site vendors.
